Pragathi Scholarship

  • The girl candidate should be admitted to First year of Diploma level course OR Second year of Diploma level course through lateral entry.
  • Maximum two girls child per family are eligible.
  • Family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 lakh per annum during the current financial year. A valid income certificate issued by State/ UT Government need to be enclosed.
  • The gap period between the year of passing the qualifying examination and the session of admission in diploma course should not be more than two years
  • The selection of candidate will be carried out solely on the basis of merit of qualifying examination to peruse the Technical Diploma course from any of the AICTE approved institutions i.e. in First year or Second year (through lateral entry only) on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in the 10th / equivalent examination.

Swanath Scholarship

  • The candidate should be from any one of the following categories
    • Orphan
    • Either or both parents died due to Covid-19
    • Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed)v
  • Family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 Lakh per annum during The financial year of the application. A valid income certificate issued by State/UT Government is to be enclosed.
  • The candidate should be currently studying in the AICTE Approved institutions and courses at Degree/ Diploma level in regular mode.
  • For students currently studying in the 2nd/ 3rd year at diploma level, the duration of the scholarship will be reduced to 2/1 year respectively.
  • The selection of candidate will be carried out solely on the basis of merit of qualifying examination to pursue the Diploma course from any of the AICTE approved Institutions
    i.e. on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in the 10th / equivalent examination

Saksham Scholarship

  • The candidate should be admitted to First year of Degree level course OR Second year of Degree level course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved Institution of respective year.
  • Specially-abled student, having disability of not less than 40%
  • Family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 lakh per annum during the current financial year. A valid income certificate issued by State /UT Government need to be enclosed.
  • The gap period between the year of passing the qualifying examination and the session of admission in diploma course should not be more than two years

Minorities Scholarship

  • Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis) have been notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. A total of five (05) lakh scholarships are targeted to be distributed as
    ‘Fresh’ Sholarships, besides, Renewal scholarships. The distribution of scholarship among the States/Union Territories will be made on the basis of population of minorities in the States/Union Territories as per Census 2001 for 2017-18 and as per the population of minorities in the States/Union Territories of Census 2011 for 2018-19 and
    2019-20 (as per Appendices- A & B).
  • Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose
    parents/guardians from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.00 lakh.
  • 3. 30% scholarship is earmarked for girls students of each minority community in a State/UT

Post Matric Scholarship

Pudhumai Pen Scheme

Scheme Benefits

  • The scheme encourages parents of female students to promote their daughter’s higher education rather than marrying them off at an early age.
  • Under the scheme Rs.1000 scholarship will be given to 25% of the female students enrolled for higher education across Tamil Nadu.
  • The scholarship is directly credited to the student’s bank accounts. Students are being issued debit cards too.

For 2022, it is reported that around 3 lakh girl students have applied under this scheme. It is envisaged that 9,981 government school girl students who enroll in engineering courses for the year 2022 under the 7.5 percent reservation will be given higher education assistance of Rs.1000 per month.

Eligibility Criteria

Following are the basic eligibility requirements for this scheme

  1. Applicant must be a citizen of India residing in the state of Tamil Nadu.
  2. Applicant must be a student. That too should have studied in a government school from 6th to 12th standard.
  3. Applicant must be a female to avail benefits from this scheme.
  4. This scheme is not applicable for distance education and open university students.
